Hearty elected to Fellowship in the American Physical Society

October 13, 2015

Congratulations to Dr. Christopher Hearty, who is elected to Fellowship in the American Physical Society this year.

“For scientific and technical leadership on the BaBar experiment which produced important results on CP violation, flavor physics, and many other areas.” According to APS, no more than one half of one percent of the membership is elected to fellowship.

Dr. Hearty’s work focuses on subatomic physics. He has been involved in several projects, including SuperB, BaBar, and T2K. He is now developing the calorimeter calibration procedures for the Belle II experiment, and planning for the physics program. Belle II is an e+e- collider experiment that will operate at the same energy as the extremely successful BaBar experiment, but will have 100x the luminosity.

Congratulations Dr. Hearty!
