The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Canada Research Tier II Chair in the field of Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. The successful candidate will join UBC’s Quantum Matter Institute and create an independent research program, which complements the existing strengths of the department. The Quantum Matter Institute of UBC has strong experimental and theoretical groups working on diverse materials, details of which can be found on the Institute website (qmi.ubc.ca). Candidates must have a Ph.D. Degree or equivalent, an outstanding research record, and are expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to supervise graduate students.The successful candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant Professor, but a higher rank may be considered for applicants with exceptional qualifications and experience.

The Canada Research Chair is equally open to individuals of all nationalities. The Chair is subject to review and final approval by the CRC Secretariat. Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars with less than 10 years of experience as an active researcher in their field at the time of nomination.
