Lecturer in Physics and Astronomy - Competition FAC-2017-03

The University of British Columbia invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Department of Physics & Astronomy on the Vancouver campus. This is a 12-month position and will start September 1, 2017. Initial teaching duties would be first year teaching in the PHYS 100 and PHYS 101 streams.

The minimum qualification is a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field. Applicants are required to have demonstrated excellence in teaching, and proven ability to contribute to curriculum development, course design and other initiatives that advance the University’s ability to excel in its teaching and learning mandate. This position will be supported by and encouraged to contribute to the department’s initiatives in content-based education research.

Candidates are urged to submit online applications, which should include a curriculum vita, names and email addresses of three referees, a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, evidence of content area expertise and teaching effectiveness, and experience with emerging technologies in teaching and learning. Candidates are particularly encouraged to highlight previous experience in fostering the education of students from diverse backgrounds.
