Research Associate - Experimental Cosmology (Competition Fac-2011-06)
We are seeking a qualified Research Associate to be part of a team analyzing submillimetre astronomical data as part of the program by the UBC Experimental Cosmology Group to study the cosmic history of star formation. The successful candidate will analyze data from BLAST, ESA's Herschel satelite, the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, ACT, and other instruments with a particular emphasis on map making and statistically robust image analysis.
Qualifications: The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Astrophysics, a record of demonstrated success at astronomical instrumentation and and several years experience in the field. The candidate should have a clear record of high quality research, including publications in leading journals. The successful applicant must demonstrate skill at scientific computing, which in this context includes python, idl, parallel computing and computer administration in a linux environment.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
