Bonn, Semenoff receive Canadian Association of Physicists Medals

Professor and Department Head Douglas Bonn, and Professor Gordon Semenoff, will be awarded Canadian Association of Physicists Medals.

The 2012 CAP/DCMMP Brockhouse Medal will be awarded to Douglas Bonn for his contributions to the field of high temperature superconductivity. The purpose of this award is to recognize and encourage outstanding experimental or theoretical contributions to condensed matter and materials physics.  

The 2012 CAP Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Physics will be awarded to Gordon W. Semenoff, for his seminal contributions to quantum field theory, statistical mechanics and condensed matter physics. This medal is awarded on the basis of: Distinguished service to physics over an extended period of time, and/or; Recent outstanding achievement.

Recipients have been invited to give a plenary lecture during the 2012 CAP Congress at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, from June 11-15. They will be presented with their medals at the end of their plenary talk and will be recognized during the Congress banquet to be held on Thursday 2012 June 14th.
