Director Clean Energy Research Centre

The University of British Columbia, Vancouver seeks outstanding internal UBC candidates for the position of Director of the Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC).

The Clean Energy Research Centre is a multi-disciplinary research centre housed in the Faculty of Applied Science. CERC’s goal is to explore and promote the use of sustainable energy sources and to increase efficiency and reduce emissions from more conventional energy conversion processes, through scientific discovery and engineering development of a wide range of clean energy technologies. The Director acts as primary academic and administrative officer of the Clean Energy Research Centre, coordinating and leading the Centre’s various programs, activities and initiatives. The Director reports to the Dean of Applied Science.

The successful candidate must hold an appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor at UBC, Vancouver campus. The ideal candidate will have a broad prospective on the future development and application of clean energy technologies and will be expected to provide innovative leadership to expand existing research programs, develop new programs, build stronger alliances with industry and government and to ensure that it is placed to take full advantage of future funding opportunities. The successful candidate must have proven leadership and administrative experience or have demonstrated the potential for such skills in other ways.

Nominations and applications are now invited. Nominators must submit a brief description of why they consider the nominee to be a highly desirable candidate. After consulting with the committee, the Chair will invite some nominees to apply as deemed appropriate. The deadline for nominations is January 14, 2019.
