iClickers are used used to promote
active learning. Using iClickers, students in a classroom can respond to
questions posed by instructors with the click of a button, all at the
same time. This provides a means:
- for the instructor to instantly assess students' understanding of the subject matter
- for the instructor to collect instant feedback from every one of his/her students
- for students to participate actively in class

How do iClickers work?
|
Classrooms that use IClickers have a receiver, which is
connected to a computer. The receivers collects responses from
students and pass them on to the computer. Normally the instructor
will pose a question to which students are asked to respond. Using the iClicker
handset (similar to a TV remote control), students beam their answers to the
receivers by clicking the appropriate buttons on the handsets.
Students' responses are then passed to the computer. Software then
processes the responses, analyses the data and outputs a response distribution
chart. Students and the instructor can examine the chart to find out the
numbers of students selecting each answer option.
