Transportation

The nearest major airport is the Calgary airport (YYC).

Some public transport is available from the airport to Banff; click on links below for more information:

The Banff Airporter (Official airport shuttle provider of The Banff Centre. Reservations are necessary. Check website for schedule and prices.)

Brewster shuttle/airporter (Check website for schedule and prices.)

Greyhound Canada (The cheap option, but it requires getting to Calgary first.)

Many delegates will fly to Calgary and rent a car. The trip from the Calgary International Airport to Banff takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Driving information:

If driving from Calgary, take the first Banff exit off the trans-Canada highway and follow Banff Avenue, Wolf Street, and St. Julien Way to the Banff Centre (but see the road closure info below).
Type "St Julien Way, Banff, Alberta, Canada" into Google maps for a scalable, searchable map.

To get into the Banff National Park, you may have to buy a park pass. For more information, click here.

Driving directions to Banff and the Banff Center can be found here.

Road Closures in Banff
There is some construction going on at Banff, and they have advised us that:

"During the TRIUMF Winter Nuclear & Particle Physics Conference from February 15 to 17, 2008, guests will experience the temporary closure of St. Julien Road, the street which passes through the centre of the property, as site work continues in preparation for the Kinnear Centre. To arrive at the Professional Development Centre for check-in, come by way of Buffalo Street, which connects to Tunnel Mountain Drive. You may reach the parkade directly when coming up St. Julien Road by turning left on Tunnel Mountain Drive. Please consult The Banff Centre - Maps for details.
"Some short-term re-routing of regular walking pathways from building to building may also be experienced. Temporary new walking paths have been created to ensure your safe passage."
