Some Firefox and Safari extensions people might find useful

Here are a few extensions I wrote to make my browsing easier. If you think they are useful, please give them a try!

linktext 1.2.3 (download)

This extension allows you to copy the text of a link (as opposed to its target) and also search for it on the web, available via the right click menu (i.e., right click on a link). Holding down Ctrl+Shift disables the hyperlink under the cursor temporarily so that you can select part of the link text.

SafariLinkText 1.0.1 (download)

This is the Safari version of linktext, compatible with Safari version 5.0 (Mac/Windows) and later. It allows you to copy the text of a link, available via the right click menu. Also included is an option to search Google for the text. Remember that you need to enable extensions first. See this page for instructions.

arxlink 1.2.3 (download)

This extension converts all text references to arXiv papers (such as arXiv:0809.0305 or hep-th/0605206) into clickable hyperlinks which point to the arXiv abstract page. A tooltip (popup) distinguishes these links from normal hyperlinks.

Firefox users please note: These files are signed and will not work unless you install my Digital Certificate (this needs to be done once only). It is a security measure which will prevent anyone else from installing software on your system in my name, as only I can sign the package files with the above certificate. Please see here for instructions on how to install a code signing certificate.

The above is Free Software.
