Lots of information can be found at our Department's NSERC page (see below). In sum, the USRA is an award that provides money to researchers, which they use to pay the salaries of undergraduate student researchers. You can apply for a USRA at any Canadian university. You will have to apply to each university separately and each has their own deadline. The earliest deadlines are around mid-January. Especially for UBC Physics, you are encouraged to seek out potential supervisors before making your applications, so factor in time for that as well as arranging for transcripts and reference letters.
