The quantum information group at the University of British Columbia has an opening for a Research Associate position in quantum information and related condensed matter physics. The successful candidate will perform research in the area of classical simulation of quantum systems. A profound knowledge of the theory of entanglement and of classical simulation methods based on tensor networks is expected, as well as a strong record of previous achievement in research. Applicants must have a PhD in Physics, and should have previous postdoctoral experience. Review of applications will begin on March 30, 2010 and continue until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be for a period of 18 months and is expected to begin April 15, 2010, with further reappointments dependent on budget and performance.
