Harvey Richer
Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies (Seminar Room 307 6331 Crescent Road Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z2)

When Astronomy Professor Harvey Richer first visited Newfoundland four years ago, he knew that he had to write the book that had been in his head for many decades. His lifelong collecting bug for Newfoundland coins was amplified by his amazement with the province and the people that lived there. He became fascinated by how Newfoundland, one of the poorest of the British possessions in North America, became the only British colony in North America to strike gold coins for general circulation.
