Science journalists aim to illuminate the process, outcomes and policy implications of scientific research for a broad public audience. In a 24-hour digital environment where effective marketing can rule narrative and stories are circulated and amplified via social media, journalists who report on science face new challenges and new opportunities. This is especially so in Canada where, despite a demand and a need for science coverage, resources are constrained by a small market.
